Board Members
Dr. Nathaniel T. Blama Sr joined our board in 2020 and brings over 20 years of experience as a Humanitarian, Environmentalist, Developer, Policymaker, Musician, Philanthropic, Nationalist, and a Social worker. Dr. Blama was appointed by the President of Liberia in 2018 as Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) where he was able to secure funds to acquire 6 new vehicles with over 100 motorbikes to empower the Agency to do a robust Environmental Compliance monitoring with in the 15 Counties across Liberia. Not still satisfied, Dr. Blama lead a team of Parliamentarians to Accra on a South-South Policy exchange on the ratification of the Paris Agreement in June 2018. Upon the return of the Law Makers, the Paris Agreement was ratify giving and it gives Liberia the opportunity to continuously receive financial support from the EU and other developed countries support towards climate action to reduce emission and build resilience to climate change impacts; uphold and promote regional and International Corporation. Still under the dynamic leadership of Hon. Blama, Liberia was able to receive from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) an approved amount of US 22 million to scale up investment and technology need transfer in Liberia and ten other developing countries including the Angola, Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea, Mauritania, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, Uganda and Zambia. The EU has also provided 1 Million Euro for Liberia to develop its Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). Prior to serving as Executive Director he have served in several positions, including; Deputy Executive Director, Chief Technical Advisor to the Management Team, Program Coordinator for the UNDP/GOL, Energy and Environment Program, Administrative Assistant and Chief Staff in the office of the Executive Director, Project Manager, Planning Officer and Media and Communication Officer.
Hon. Alexander N. Duopu is a financial expert who brings wealth of experience spinning over 20 years. He holds a BBA degree in accounting from the University of Liberia, obtained a Master of Science in Accountant (MSC) in 2007 and another Master of Business Administration in Accountant (MBA) in 2009 with emphasis in Finance from the Strayer University, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States of America, Hon. Duopu worked at the following places: 1997-2005 as Chief Accountant at the National Investment Commission (NIC) in Liberia. 2002-2005 as Residential Counsellor at the Devereux Foundation in West Chester, PA, USA. 2005-2010 as Investment Accountant at the PNC Global Investment Servicing (PNC Financial), Wilmington, DE, USA. 2010-2011 served as Financial Consultant at the JFK Medical Center, Liberia. 2012-2014 served as Head of Secretariat/Officer in Charge (OIC), Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in Liberia. He also served as Associate Professor at the University of Liberia, Cuttington University and United Methodist University. In 2018 is was appointed by the President of Liberia as Deputy Minister of Instructions at the Ministry of Education.
Amb. Leo E. Tiah is the Founder and Executive Director at Youth Network for Positive Change – YOUNETPO. He is an astute Youth advocate and activist who has dedicated the last 11 years of his life to service in the area of youth development through capacity building, program designs, high level representations, mentorship, coaching among others. His impactful leadership has enabled YOUNETPO to develop and implement stronger policies and set up standardize systems which has enabled the institutions to secure grants from international organizations both in and out of Liberia including: FHI360, Plan International, EANNASO (Tanzania), ACT Africa (Accra), the Global Fund, USAID, EPA, Pan African Think Tank (USA) among others.
Amb. Leo E. Tiah is the recipient of the Emerging Climate Activist of the year (2021) award, noted as Youth Advocate of the Year (2022-Accra, Ghana), awarded the prestigious Kwame Nkrumah Medal of Honor for Transformational Leadership in Africa, obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PgCMgt), is a distinguished fellow of the Africa Institute of Public Administration and awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Public Administration (DPA-Honoris causa) in recognition of the meritorious achievements and service to humanity and to celebrate his outstanding commitment to advancing his field, driving innovation, and implementing initiatives with a lasting and meaningful impact.
Mrs. Fatu M. Kamara Foster is a member of our board of directors who is a public health professional with a master degree in public health and bachelor in nursing. She has over 20 years of experience in program development, implementation, and management in humanitarian emergency and development settings. Has excellent skills in implementing health related projects such as HIV/AIDs, working with key, vulnerable, and priority populations which has contributed significantly to the progress made in the 95-95-95 global target for HIV in Liberia. Also has worth of experience implementing Malaria, health system strengthening, sexual reproductive health and rights, with clear understanding in gender equality and human rights. Has had oversight and managed grants resulting to impact based indicators achievement and quality donor reporting. Has proven competence in managing large grants like the Global Fund which was over 10.6 million united states dollars, and good network with Government, local, international partners and other stakeholders. Has proven excellence in budget formulation, risk management, internal controls, quality assurance, and reporting with many donors (The Global Fund, USAID, DFID, EU, and UN agencies) among others.
MartinB. Mugerwa has been a member of the Board of YOUNETPO since 2021 and has nearly over 10 years of experience implementing and managing Behavior change and HIV related programs & life skills instruction, as well as considerable experience in human rights programing, campaigning and advocacy. Martin also currently serve as Country Director at Youth Alive Liberia; an organization that work with and through children/adolescents/young adults (youth) ages 9-35 to lead healthy and proactive life styles. His accomplishments are derived from exceptional Interpersonal and communication skills, facilitation and training skills, strong attention to details and unparalleled work ethic. Martin has successfully fundraised for many other civil society organizations through proposal writing and projects appraisal from Donors such as UNICEF, AJWS, UNAIDS, UNWOMEN, Kvinna Till Kvinna, to mention but a few and the latest funds have been towards Epidemic control and linkage of Key Populations into HIV care and treatment funded by USAID through PEPFAR implemented by FHI360.
In November 2018, Martin was recognized in London by the Trust Conference as one of the 60 leading activists across the world at the forefront of the fight for Human Rights.
