Summary

As a Youth led national civil society organization in Liberia, Youth Network for Positive Change – YOUNETPO is impacting its community and driving lasting change through its inventions including engaging is supply chain initiatives such as monitoring the supply chain of donated drugs (Malaria, TB, HIV & SRH) at public health facilities in targeted counties in a drive to improve accountability at public health facilities through routine visitation and monitoring. YOUNETPO recognize that true impact within the health sector is only achievable when it is well sustained that is why the organization has also focus its interventions towards strengthening the capacity of Health Facility Development Committees (HFDCs) across two of Liberia’s most populated counties; Montserrado, Bong counties. Another aspect of YOUNETPO’s strategy is utilizing a human rights-based approach to holistically tackle stigma and discrimination affecting Female Sex Workers (FSW) to improve access to HIV/AIDS/TB treatment, care and support, as well as negative cultural practices and socio- economic factors that contribute to low uptake of safer sexual behaviors such as homophobia, poor health-seeking behavior and multiple concurrent partners. This Interventions is also integrating sexual and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response as well as sexual reproductive rights within its activities.

To contribute to the shift from COVID-19 impact mitigation towards pandemic preparedness and response (PPR) and community and health systems readiness, YOUNETPO concentrate on strengthening Pandemic Preparedness and Response (PPR) capacity of communities and civil society to effectively engage in country-level processes and mechanisms related to pandemic preparedness and response (PPR) that ensures national PPR policies, strategies, and programs integrate health equity, human rights, and gender equality.

Some highlights of YOUNETPO’s impact – advancing SRHR services in Liberia.

With an annual budget under $500,000, YOUNETPO addresses critical gaps in Liberia’s s health sector, where high maternal mortality, HIV rates, and health system weaknesses persist. The organization advances SRHR through advocacy for Liberia’s Revised Public Health Law, mobilizing communities and policymakers to support reproductive rights. YOUNETPO health systems strengthening program include monitoring drug supplies in 20 facilities, reducing stock outs and corruption, while our pandemic preparedness and response programs train communities and CSOS on equitable response strategies. A
Systems-oriented approach is evident in our efforts to combat HIV stigma among female sex workers and integrate GBV prevention with SRHR services.
